It’s amazing just how small the world can feel when the internet is at your fingertips. I met Josh & Taryn when a mutual friend posted online looking for a photographer in Paris during a time I was already planning a visit. Josh & Taryn were married about a year before they decided to take their honeymoon trip to Europe. When planning their trip from Canada, they kept thinking about a special way to capture memories from their trip. That’s where I came in! A mutual friend suggested my name, and we immediately clicked. Taryn is artsy herself as she has her own business creating beautiful cakes. We had a lot to chat about!
We had originally planned only to shoot in Paris. Paris is such a romantic place to visit. Obviously, the Eiffel Tower alone is pure magic! When we found out we would all be in Amsterdam at the same time, we made sure to meet up there for photos, too. There was so much beautiful architecture to see in both Paris and Amsterdam. I loved the opportunity to explore these new places with Josh & Taryn and to document their honeymoon adventures.
I finished out this European adventure in Barcelona where I scheduled two sessions in the gothic quarter. One thing that I love about photography is that it allows me to see so many different types of landscapes and environments. If I were always shooting in Virginia, I might get complacent if I was continually shooting in the same type of environment. Travel provides me the chance to push my limits and work with surroundings that I normally wouldn’t have the chance to.
I’ve been fortunate to travel many different places since becoming a photographer. From a wedding in Hawaii to honeymoon photos in Paris, traveling for the perfect shot definitely counts as one of the coolest parts of my job. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, let’s chat about your ideas!
