I have always wanted to shoot photos at the fair. It’s impossible not to feel like a kid again when you visit, so it’s a great place to loosen up and have fun. The busy atmosphere full of bright lights and people can be a challenge to shoot around so I definitely wanted to give it a go!
In September, the State Fair of Virginia opened for a few weeks. Summer and fall are a photographer’s busiest times of year, but I was determined not to miss this chance! Because I’m a crazy person who doesn’t understand what a day off looks like, I posted a last minute model call on my Instagram for anyone willing to meet up for a portrait session on the only free day I had.
I’m so glad I did! Megan responded almost immediately, and I took it as a sign that this was meant to be. The next day, I met up with Megan and her fiancé Lorenzo at the State Fair of Virginia. We had a blast! I conquered my fear of heights and rode the ferris wheel for some photos from the top. Megan & Lorenzo got some giant swing time in, played a few games, and even enjoyed some classic fair snacks.
These two were so much fun while we were there. They were constantly picking on each other in the most playful ways and laughing together. I love being able to capture that authentic interaction between couples. With so much to see and capture through my camera, the connection between Megan & Lorenzo made it into every photo.
I would love the opportunity to shoot in more fun and unusual places. If you are looking for a photographer, reach out for more info on my engagement and wedding packages.
